I’m looking into starting a small retail store. I will be the sole proprietor and am looking for start up capital. I’d rather NOT take out any loans in case the business doesn’t do well.

Any idea where I can get the money I need to start up my business?

I am planning to start my own small retail store in or near Glendale CA. I am thinking about opening a type of dressup/makeover store for kids where they can come and play dressup, have makeovers and even purchase costumes. The type of place that will also have birthday parties etc…Mostly geared towards girls 10 and under. My dad is planning on helping me to start this business and he thinks that that it will cost about -60k to get started. I want to start a business plan….I know what I want to do…I just don’t know yet how to do it or how much it will cost to start and would like opinions from others who know a bit about small retail stores and starting them. Hello, I am thinking of opening a small clothing boutique (both women and men trendy fashion) I know how the economy is and many people I talked to advise me not to open one right now. I am however, pretty determined to open one within the next 4-6 months.
I wanted to get some info on things I should consider…I have not been in the business however my partner has been for many years and she will be doing all the buying.
1) are there any sample retail store business plans out there
2) how much do I need for a starting capital
3) with the economy the way it is now, are there any stores making profit now?
4) I have looked at few potential retail places for lease and have a location on mind…but not sure If 11K per month for 1300 sq ft is a good price, please advice
5) My understanding of steps is a) business plan b) bank for financing/capital c) look for a store d) order merchandise and get the store ready e) hire help and open store, correct?
ANY advice will help..
